Q&A

ENVIRONMENT

  • What is agroforestry?

Agroforestry involves integrating trees into agricultural systems. In addition to being beneficial for biodiversity and carbon storage, trees also enhance field productivity and animal comfort.

To learn more about the advantages of combining trees, crops, and animals.

What happens to the animals in winter, when the grazing season is over?

Even in winter, our animals have access to a sheltered outdoor area protected from the elements. They are fed with hay harvested on the farm during the summer, which is preserved as silage to maintain its nutritional qualities. This allows them to remain comfortable and well-fed throughout the cold season.

Carbon storage in meadows and pastures

The soil of permanent meadows and pastures can store up to 80 tonnes of carbon per hectare* in the form of organic matter.

Is this possible on a large scale?

Every farm is unique. Écoboeuf is a small-scale initiative designed to develop and test responsible agricultural practices. This scale allows us to offset our emissions through recognized methods if the results are not conclusive.

Can a farm like yours be carbon neutral forever?

After several decades, the ecosystem eventually reaches its maximum carbon storage capacity. It is therefore essential to assess all possible solutions to reduce emissions.

Are your products organic?

Our products are not certified organic. However, our animals are raised without hormones or antibiotics, and we do not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides on our land. In addition, our beef is certified Verified Beef Production Plus and Beef: Origin Québec, two recognitions that reflect our commitment to responsible, traceable farming practices that meet the quality standards of the beef industry.

THE MEAT

  • What are the main health benefits of your meat?

At Écobœuf, quantity is calculated in kilograms of consumable meat, meaning the meat you actually receive in your box, ready to be cooked. As a guideline, this generally represents about 60% of the carcass weight, since certain parts are not included in the final box, such as removed bones, excess fat, and losses related to cutting. The exact yield may vary depending on the animal, the type of cut, and the format selected.

  • What carcass weight, in kilograms, will I receive?

A better omega-3/omega-6 ratio, which supports proper cardiovascular system function. See other benefits

  • Why does grass-fed beef fat have a yellow tint?

Because it contains approximately 7 times more vitamin A than grain-fed beef. Grass-based diets are rich in carotenoids, pigments naturally produced by plants that are responsible for yellow, orange, and red colouring.

  • How much beef will I receive in my order?

To view the exact contents of your box, click on “Discover the Content” from the selected item in the shop. Under the “Included in this format” tab, you will find the list of meat cuts included in the box, as well as the quantities.

How much time can I keep the meat frozen ?

Thanks to vacuum packaging, our meat can be stored for up to 20 months in the freezer, compared to approximately 3 months with standard packaging.

To ensure optimal preservation, it is important to handle the packages with care to prevent them from becoming unsealed. If a package becomes unsealed, we recommend consuming the meat more quickly to preserve its freshness.
